Gagan Thapa Urges Voters to Elect Rajiv Koirala in Sunsari-2, Says “Help Him Win, I Will Handle the Rest

Addressing party leaders and cadres on Tuesday in Sunsari-2, Thapa said voters had already shown faith in the Nepali Congress and in his leadership, and the time had come to convert that goodwill into electoral victory. He appealed to locals to cast their ballots for “Rajiv Koirala dai” and promised that, if Koirala is elected, he will take responsibility for delivering on the party’s commitments, saying in essence, “Help Rajiv Koirala win, I will take care of the rest.”

Thapa also urged party workers to clearly communicate to the public whether Congress has fulfilled its previous promises. He told them to honestly explain which pledges have been implemented and how the party has “changed and improved” compared to the past.

Due to the election code of conduct, Thapa noted that he could not speak in detail about all his plans, but underlined that the “changed Congress” aims to work with a solid basis to end corruption and strengthen good governance. He framed the campaign in Sunsari-2 as part of a broader effort to show that the party can deliver cleaner politics and more accountable leadership.

According to the program schedule, Thapa arrived in Biratnagar on Monday and, on Tuesday morning, travelled through Itahari, Jhumka and Inaruwa before heading onward towards Sarlahi for further campaign events. His tight itinerary reflects the importance the party is placing on Sunsari and surrounding constituencies in the current election cycle.
